  Environmental Building or House Moving

Building moving is a great way to make the north east a greener place for all. Moving buildings saves them from being torn down and put into landfills . Moving the average 2000 sqft house can produce approximately 6000 board feet of reusable lumber which is approx 30-35 trees. If this same building were to be torn down it would produce approximately 10,000 cubic feet of waste which most of that would go into a land fill, which then increases greenhouse gas emissions. By moving buildings we save trees, decrease landfill use and lower greenhouse gas emissions. Moving buildings also puts money back into the community by creating work for local businesses. Building moving is the oldest and largest form of recycling in the world and has been around for over 400 years. Payne , Building Movers is proud to do there part to make the wnorth east a better place so lets Go Green and move a house!

  Timber king 2000.
The desire to purchase a saw mill came about this year when deciding to buy more hemlock and oak cribbing /blocking , that would be needed over the next few years. We decided to buy our own sawmill as we already own a very large parcel of land where our shops and office are located. The land is all forested with mostly hemlock and red oak , which we can use for cribbing as well as firewood for our shop. We cut the logs on the property , skid them out to the saw mill and cut the cribbing that we need. The side benefits are that 50% of the log that would normally be waste product is now turned into boards and planking. the slab wood is then cut up into firewood to heat the buildings with. all this is done without the log ever leaving the land it was cut from , thus cutting down on fuel.
  Benefits to the environment

  • The trees are selectively cut, improving the forest around them.
  • The logs are cut on site . so no more hauling them to a mill 100 miles away then hauling the finished product 100 miles back to us. This saves 100's of mile of trucking and 1000's of gallons of fuel and emissions from burning.
  • The tree branches are left in the forest to return back into the soils, replenishing the nutrients.
  • The saw dust is spread out on the trails in the woods returning it back to mother nature.

All in all we reduce our cost all while helping out the environment in our own little way.
