Historic Building Moving and Raising
Historic preservation has always been our main specialty. Payne Construction Services Inc. has raised and moved some of the oldest buildings and homes in the country, both wood framed and masonry. We take great pleasure knowing that we are able to help preserve historic buildings and structures for future generations to appreciate and experience them for years to come.
Structural moving has been around for hundreds of years and is a great way to preserve historic buildings. With our experience, knowledge and technology we can continue to do our part to save these historical monuments. In the past we have successfully moved buildings that date back to the mid 1600’s and 1700’s, including their historic fireplaces and chimneys, without damaging the structures. In fact, we have relocated the first and second oldest remaining Quaker meeting houses in the U.S. as well as one of the oldest remaining grist mills in the U.S., historic churches, commercial buildings, schools, farms, barns and houses.
